April marks National Child Abuse Prevention Month, a time for our community to come together to celebrate the small actions each of us can take that make a big impact on the well-being of our children. Thousands of cases of child abuse and neglect are reported in our country each year. Preventing child abuse and building strong, safe, and healthy children and families will benefit the entire community, setting up future generations to succeed. Child abuse and neglect are preventable, and everyone benefits when children and families are well supported.

CASA’s mission is to provide a qualified and compassionate court-appointed volunteer advocate to every child who is abused and neglected, to ensure the fundamental human right of having a safe, nurturing, and permanent home is met. Our vision is that every child who is abused and neglected will have a safe, permanent home and the support to become a healthy, empowered adult, thereby breaking the cycle of abuse and neglect.

We acknowledge the crucial connection between a happy childhood and a hopeful future for every child and commit to working together to ensure all children and families have the resources and support they need to reach their full potential. Join us in advocating for happy homes as the foundation for a brighter tomorrow. Together, let’s ensure that every child has the nurturing environment they deserve for a better future.

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) are community volunteers, just like you, who stand up and speak out to help abused and neglected children. Our CASA program belongs to a network of nearly 750 community-based programs that recruit, train, and support citizen volunteers to advocate for the best interests of children in the foster care system.

Our Program Staff, led by our Program Director, supervises and supports our CASA Volunteers. Volunteer Managers work with our CASAs to provide oversight and guidance as they navigate the child welfare system and the court system. Volunteer Managers assist with reviewing court reports, accompany CASAs to court, and help CASAs with case planning.

Learn more about becoming a CASA at one of our upcoming Information Sessions, including Friday, April 26 at 12pm and Wednesday, May 22 at 5:30pm. To find out more about how you can make a difference by joining our team of compassionate volunteers, visit us online at casalancleb.org or call our office at 717-208-3280. You have the power to change a child’s story.
