More Than 1,000 Tree Planted in the Lebanon Valley

The Lebanon Valley Conservancy (TLVC), in partnership with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation Keystone Ten Million Trees Partnership, planted 1,250 trees in the Lebanon Valley this fall, including 250 trees planted last weekend, with the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay, to protect our local watershed.
A variety of native trees were planted at various locations throughout Lebanon County, including the Palmyra Sportsmen’s Association, VA Medical Center and Lion’s Lake. “Planting trees is always popular! We had more than 60 volunteers, including Conservancy staff, board members, individual volunteers, and groups from Lebanon Middles School, Lancaster County Career and Technology Center, and Boy Scouts of America,” shared Laurie Crawford, executive director of the Lebanon Valley Conservancy.
The Conservancy has planted more than 3,000 trees in Lebanon County in the last two years. “Planting trees doesn’t just help improve our local landscape; trees provide ecological benefits to the larger region, including improved air quality, passive cooling, stormwater abatement, and carbon sequestration. Trees also provide crucial forage and habitat for an array of Pennsylvania wildlife,” explained Jon Schach, certified arborist and TLVC board chair of the community conservation committee.
