The Manufacturers’ Association, which actively serves manufacturing and logistics throughout the southcentral Pennsylvania region, has just released its 2017 Wage & Salary Survey.
Compiled from data supplied by 70 member and non-member companies throughout the region, the Association’s Survey serves as a benchmarking tool for management and HR personnel. Wage data is shown for direct labor, salary exempt and non-exempt positions in several grades, and is the only known collection of industrial compensation data of its kind, gathered from across just southcentral PA. It allows an individual company to determine where they stand, relative to the marketplace, and to gauge where competitive companies may be in retaining skilled talent.
Of special note in this year's survey is the fact that based on data, nearly 60% of businesses responding indicated that in their business, they see increased employment in the coming New Year. Also highlighted
is that more than 40% of survey respondents state they are presently experiencing difficulty in finding and hiring skilled hourly employees.
Due to the ever-increasing costs and value of providing other benefits as part of any business’s total compensation package, The Manufacturers’ Association in Spring next year will issue a call for data to
then compile its 2018 Benefits Information Survey.
According to Tom Palisin, Association executive director, "Many companies in our ten-county region have come to rely on our popular Wage & Salary Survey when processing internal performance reviews or promotions, so that they can remain competitive is what is currently seen as a very tight job market for employers."
