Lebanon, PA
04/15/2016 10:30 AM
To date, 37 project sites are still seeking volunteer help at their organizations on United Way of Lebanon County’s 20th Annual “Day of Caring” to take place on Saturday, April 23rd, from 9 am to noon.  Upwards of 1,000 participants are needed throughout the Lebanon County area to perform service work at over 90 non-profits, city and county facilities and parks.

Volunteers are needed for a wide range of projects on Day of Caring, including outdoor work such as weeding, mulching, raking, planting flowers, painting fences and performing minor repairs, as well as indoor projects like organizing office spaces and storage areas, putting together informational packets, cleaning, painting and delivering greeting cards to the elderly.  All registrations are due by Friday, April 15th.

Signing up to volunteer is easy!  Here’s how:
1) Log on to the Volunteer Registration Page at unitedwaylebco.org/volunteer/day-of-caring-volunteer-2
2) Scroll down to the registration form and fill out all necessary fields.
3) Click the "Sign-Up Genius" button within the form to view all Day of Caring projects and register for your favorite assignment - or more than one if you have a large group.
4) Be sure to submit both the United Way’s registration form AND select your preferred project on SignUpGenius.com - then you’re done!  If your registrations were performed correctly, you will receive two email confirmations.
All volunteers are invited to a free Kick-Off Breakfast in the Lebanon High School Cafeteria from 7:30 am - 8:45 am.  The United Way asks that volunteers please bring donations of  “Basic Needs” items to the breakfast - like deodorant, toothbrushes, shampoo, etc. for all ages - to be delivered to local shelters, food and clothing banks.  Log on to unitedwaylebco.org/volunteer/day-of-caring-volunteer-2 for a full list of items needed.

In honor of Day of Caring’s 20th year in Lebanon County, United Way will be giving away raffle prizes at the end of the Kick-Off breakfast, in addition to other fun activities in honor of the milestone, including pie-throwing!  Each volunteer will receive a raffle ticket for the chance to win one of several gift cards, Hersheypark tickets and more.

Volunteers will be contacted with an official Day of Caring information email beginning Monday, April 18th, the week prior to “Day of Caring.”  If you do not wish to fill out the online form, a printable version is available.  Please contact the United Way office to receive a copy at 273-8144 or email ezaborny@unitedwaylebco.org.
