This year, the law office of Reilly Wolfson will celebrate its 75th anniversary. That’s 75 years of strong client relationships. In fact, some of Reilly Wolfson’s clients, including health care and manufacturing corporations, have been with the firm for 50 years or more. The practice was initially opened by William Egli in 1940, and it has grown through the years. Two judges, Thomas Gates and John Walter, also had their start with the firm.
According to Corey Lamoureux, an associate with Reilly Wolfson’s attorneys, the company has always been a general practice law firm, which he believes is a positive attribute. Any client can come to the firm for anything they may need, from a traffic citation to tax issues. The firm’s long list of practice areas includes banking & finance, bankruptcy law, business law, creditors’ rights and collections, criminal defense, elder law, estate planning & administration, family law, health care law, labor & employment law, land use & zoning, landlord & tenant, litigation, and more.
“We have attorneys in place to cover all areas,”
Lamoureux explained. “A client can easily transition to other counsel, depending on the subject matter of their case.”
Peggy Morcom, a partner with the firm, stated, “We have a number of staff who have been committed to our firm for over 30 years. This has added to our success.”
While the law firm is diversified, Morcom and
Lamoureux believe that the practice is still small enough to be very personal and attentive. It’s the perfect balance, the “best of both worlds.” Client attention is one of the top priorities of the attorneys in their tight-knit office.
“You pick up the phone, and you talk with a lawyer,”
Lamoureux stated.
A graduate of Widener University, Morcom’s focus is on employment and labor law. Lamoureux, also a Widener alum, focuses his practice in family law and criminal law. Reilly Wolfson has ten lawyers, eight of whom are partners and two who are associates. In addition to Morcom and Lamoureux, these attorneys include Frederick S. Wolfson, Timothy D. Sheffey, Loren A. Schrum, Paul A. Lundberg, Paul C. Bametzreider, Michelle R. Calvert, Colleen S. Gallo, and John W. Ditzler. In 1986, the firm moved from its downtown Lebanon location to its current address at 1601 Cornwall Road in Lebanon.
Lamoureux and Morcom both agreed that the attorneys at Reilly Wolfson work together closely, lending to a comfortable, familiar office culture.
“You don’t learn how to practice law in law school,”
Lamoureux said. “All of the partners are mentors; their doors are always open.”
Morcom also pointed out that Reilly Wolfson is active in the local community. The attorneys are involved in organizations, such as the American Heart Association, Kiwanis, Pillows of Love, and other local nonprofit organizations. Reilly Wolfson has likewise been a member of the Lebanon Valley Chamber of Commerce since 2010, and a number of their attorneys have gone through the Chamber’s Leadership Lebanon Valley program. Morcom and Lamoureux also noted that the attorneys are committed to the future of the Lebanon Valley community.
“Many of our lawyers grew up here, and all live in Lebanon County,” Morcom said. “Being involved in the community reflects who we are as a firm.”
So what is Reilly Wolfson doing to celebrate their 75th anniversary? The firm recently rolled out a new logo, and officially shortened its name (previously Reilly, Wolfson, Sheffey, Schrum & Lundberg LLP). They also added the anniversary tagline, “Serving the Community Since 1940,” to the new logo. Other changes will occur throughout the year.
Additionally, instead of having an open house or another big event to celebrate the firm’s 75th birthday, the practice decided to go a different route. In keeping with its commitment to community involvement, they participated in Conquer Cancer with a Quarter, a program of the American Cancer Society. Reilly Wolfson not only volunteered at the event, but also held their own drive at the firm. They matched donations up to $7,500, and helped to raise $40,553 for the American Cancer Society.
“We look forward to continuing to serve our community,” Morcom said.
As Reilly Wolfson surpasses its 75th birthday, the firm is in the process of growing the practice and bringing in additional attorneys. The firm isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
