The concept of the Mrs. Smith Awards, a pseudonym used to represent the citizens of the region, arose from an idea that the SCTF executive board had to recognize those behind the scene personnel who work hard to make sure the region is prepared for all disasters. Greg Noll, program director of the SCTF, stated, "We often refer to Mrs. Smith to represent our customers, the citizens of South Central Pennsylvania. When Mrs. Smith is having a bad day - when she calls 911 - she is looking to us to help make her problem go away. Collectively, we have to bring our "A game" every day. The underlying purpose of the awards is to recognize those who go above and beyond in the realm of preparedness, something that is often overlooked in a disaster," stated Noll, "many times awards are given out for bravery during an emergency event or disaster, but we often forget those who have worked tirelessly before an event to prepare those around them for a disaster."
"Janet has been employed in a senior leadership role with our organization since 2005", states Chief Bryan Smith. Chief Smith continued, "Janet has played a critical role in the deployments to incidents of disaster both locally and out-of-state. We are very fortunate to have a team member like Janet in our organization".
Janet is a dedicated EMS professional with over 25 years of service. Her current roles and responsibilities include the SCTF EMS Committee, Child Death and Review Team for Lebanon County, Licensure and Accreditation, and performance improvement.
