LCCM Hosts Emergency Shelter Information Meeting
Lebanon, PA
03/27/2015 10:14 AM
Since 2012, LCCM and Jubilee Ministries have partnered to operate a resource center and emergency shelter; this collaborative effort is known as Lebanon HOPES.

“The focus of the meeting,” explained Troy Williams, LCCM's executive director, “is to both inform the public of what LCCM and Jubilee Ministries have accomplished during the past three years and describe the current and future needs of the program.”

The big news is that the shelter will remain open through the summer months and through the entire year; as opposed to just providing shelter through the winter. LCCM and Jubilee Ministries received grant funds through Lebanon County Community Action Partnership to make this happen.

“We are grateful for the work that Phyllis (Phyllis Holtry, CAP Administrator) did to make this grant happen,” Williams said. “Without it…we would not be able to provide shelter through the entire year.”

The grant, however, is for only one year with no guarantee that future funds will be available. Aside from sustainable funding, the other pressing needs are volunteers and shelter sites.

“Currently we have fourteen churches that are used as shelter sites. Although this meets our needs for the winter, we need churches that can be used as sites for the summer months,” explained Williams. Williams also mentioned that if a church wants to get involved but may not have the space available, that church can provide volunteers or create a team and volunteer at another church.

Anyone that has an interest in supporting the emergency shelter or homeless resource center is invited to attend the meeting. The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April 9, 2015, at 6:00 pm at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 1500 Quentin Rd., Lebanon. Refreshments will be provided. Please RSVP by emailing troy@lccm.us or call 717-272-4400.
