This collection showcases her innovative approach to collage, featuring a delightful fusion of various materials, with a new integration of fabrics into her work. Through these intricate collages, Katherine has skillfully introduced a rich tapestry of textures, unveiling a mesmerizing blend of elements that ignite the imagination. Her dedication to pushing the boundaries of artistic expression is vividly evident in this exceptional exhibition. Join us for the artist opening reception on First Friday, December 1, 2023 from 5pm to 8pm in our Gallery. The exhibit will run until Saturday, January 27, 2024.
Katherine’s wellspring of inspiration flows from the enchanting allure of nature and the intriguing juxtaposition of human-made imprints on the landscape that envelopes her in picturesque Lancaster County. It is the profound contrast between the organic beauty of the natural world and the structured form of architectural creations that fuels her artistic fire. With a keen eye, she absorbs the kaleidoscope of colors that the landscape generously bestows and perceives the world through a unique lens that unveils a tapestry of textures, waiting to be thoughtfully interwoven into a narrative of mixed media artistry.
As a child, Katherine was encouraged to explore her creative nature. She knew from an early age that she wanted to be an artist and has been a professional artist for the past decade. She holds a bachelor’s degree in fine art from Pennsylvania College of Art & Design where she studied drawing, oil painting and printmaking. She has been and continues to be an exhibiting artist at Red Raven Art Company in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and is a member of The Carlisle Arts Learning Center. Katherine and her husband own Horst Arts in Manheim, Pennsylvania where they practice digital and fine art and offer creative workshops for the general public with the goal of creating a thriving artistic community.
