Outpatient
Palliative & Supportive Care Clinic Opens in Lebanon
YORK, PA (September 28, 2022) – Aimed at improving the comfort and quality of life of patients facing serious or chronic illnesses, WellSpan Palliative & Supportive Care has opened a new outpatient clinic in Lebanon.
Palliative care can be provided at any time during a person’s illness. Care at the outpatient clinic
is designed to support the needs of patients outside of the hospital setting,
allowing the clinic to work as partners with the patient and their other care
providers.
“WellSpan’s vision is to lead the region in providing high value care to all the patients we serve. Our Palliative & Supportive Care services are an example of how the health system’s over-arching vision can be realized for an important segment of our patients as well as their partnering care providers,” said Dr. Geoff Nicholson, senior vice president and chief clinical officer of WellSpan Population Health.
The new clinic in Lebanon, located at 202 Hathaway Park near WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital, joins WellSpan’s other outpatient palliative services in Ephrata, York, Gettysburg, Chambersburg, and Waynesboro. The Lebanon clinic is
located within the renamed Weaber Family Palliative and Supportive Care
building that formerly provided hospice services.
“The introduction of outpatient services to the Lebanon community supports WellSpan’s goal of offering patients care options that improve their quality of life and experience,” said Dr. Vipul Bhatia, associate chief medical officer, WellSpan Post Acute and Continuing Care Services.
The Lebanon Palliative & Supportive Care clinic is staffed by a care team of three providers, Meghan MacLean, M.D., Kelly Wheeler, CRNP, and Brianna Woods, CRNP. The clinic’s team also provide inpatient palliative care at WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital and outpatient care at the WellSpan Sechler Family Cancer Center in Lebanon.
