Nonprofits aiding COVID-19 recovery receive $67,947 boost from TFEC and United Way
The Foundation for Enhancing Communities
(TFEC) and United Way of the Capital Region (United Way) has awarded $67,947 in
grants to 29 additional nonprofit organizations providing essential services
and support during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We’re honored to support these deserving organizations during their time of need,” said Janice Black, president and CEO of TFEC. “It’s been great to see the region band together and give back,” Black continued. “As the country begins to reopen it’s going to be a slow journey to revitalize our communities and we’re hopeful that people will continue donating to the fund so we can put those dollars to work where they’re needed most.”
The COVID-19 Community Response Fund allows two
powerful organizations, TFEC and United Way, to come together to provide
support and funds to an even larger geographic footprint than would be possible
if they were working independently.
“Every dollar that individuals, families and businesses can contribute will go towards helping others get food, housing, medical care and other essentials,” said Tim Fatzinger, president and CEO of United Way of the Capital Region. “It’s a money in money out system. This regional funding opportunity affords nonprofits support that are outside of the United Way’s typical funding scope.”
In total, the COVID-19 Community Response Fund
has awarded $127,212 to 54 nonprofit organizations.
“As the COVID-19 virus continues to cause fear and uncertainty, we want our community to know that New Hope Ministries is open and safely serving people who need food assistance, emergency housing assistance, or a helping hand to get back to work, said Eric Saunders, Executive Director of New Hope Ministries. “We are committed to our mission of helping our neighbors, especially in times of a crisis like this, and are so grateful to TFEC for their help to make sure everyone can get the help they need."
Donations to the fund can be made at www.tfec.org/covid19. Individual donors can also text “TFEC” to 56512 to receive a link to donate. Nonprofit organizations based in Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lebanon, Perry and Northern York Counties are invited to apply for assistance through the fund at www.tfec.org/covid19resources.
