Barley Snyder Attorney George C. Werner Named Firm’s General Counsel

Barley Snyder is pleased to announce attorney George C. Werner has been named General Counsel of the firm. As General Counsel, Werner will be responsible for protecting the firm’s legal interests, maintaining its operations within the scope established by law, and providing guidance on risk management and related liability issues. He will also be responsible for conducting firmwide professional liability training in addition to other duties.

 

“I am honored to assume the role of Barley Snyder’s general counsel,” said Werner. “I look forward to utilizing my 40-plus years of experience to contribute to the firm’s mission of excellence while providing legal guidance to our growing team of practitioners across our footprint.”

 

Werner has been an attorney at Barley Snyder since 1980, concentrating his practice in complex civil and commercial litigation and risk management. During his tenure, he has tried to verdict, award or court ruling more than 100 matters in federal and state courts and before arbitration panels. In his new position as General Counsel, Werner has shifted his practice from client service to exclusively representing the firm.

Werner’s legal acumen is highly regarded, receiving many notable recognitions over years from his peers, including an “AV Preeminent” rating from Martindale-Hubbell® and being named to The Best Lawyers in America® list each year since 2010. In 2016, 2019 and 2023, Werner was named Best Lawyers® “Lawyer of the Year” for Construction Litigation in the Harrisburg Metro area. Werner was also named to the Pennsylvania Super Lawyers list for nine consecutive years from 2012 to 2020.
