Fulton Financial Corp., the holding company for Fulton Bank, has created a new COO role and hired Philmer H. Rohrbaugh to fill the position. Rohrbaugh was Fulton’s chief risk officer and senior executive vice president since 2012. As COO, he will still remain senior executive vice president. Rohrbaugh officially stepped into his new position on June 1 of this year. (Source: CPBJ.com)

In partnership with the Hershey-Palmyra Sertoma Club and Fulton Bank, the Lebanon Valley Bike Coalition held its annual Tour de Lebanon Valley ride on Saturday, May 14. Jack Cantwell of SkyLimit Marketing has been chosen by Ithaca College’s Alumni Board of Directors to receive the Edgar “Dusty” Bredbenner Distinguished Alumni Award on Saturday, October 8, during Ithaca College’s alumni weekend. The award is presented to graduates who have demonstrated outstanding loyalty to Ithaca College over a long period and is the highest award the alumni association presents. Cantwell also recently released his book, “Life Expressed in 25 Words of Less.” The book is available for purchase on amazon.com.

 

Highmark has created a new compensation plan in an attempt to mollify concerns in response to the 4.5 percent reimbursement cut that physicians have taken since April 1 of this year when they treat patients under the Affordable Care Act. Highmark’s new plan sets aside $5.5 million for primary care physicians for whenever they send in “unconfirmed diagnosis codes for patients covered under government health plans.” (Source: CPBJ.com)


BB&T announced on Friday, May 13, that it will be closing four of its branches. The business at the closing branches will shift to other nearby branches. These closing branches include one on Old Philadelphia Pike in Leacock Township, one on Main Street in New Holland, one on Main St. in Mount Joy, and one on Georgetown Road in Bart Township. Jonestown Bank & Trust Co. (JBT) earned the 175th spot in the 2016 list of Top 200 Community Banks and Thrifts, as ranked nationally by American Banker magazine. JBT is ranked 25th among 27 Pennsylvania-based banks listed, and is the only community bank based in Lebanon or Lancaster Counties appearing on the list. A total of 684 community banks and thrifts nationwide were qualified to be evaluated by three-year average Return On Average Equity (ROAE), and rankings were based on an analysis of data compiled by SNL Financial. JBT had an average of 9.02 percent to earn its place on the list for the 8th consecutive year. The median average among all 750 institutions was 6.84 percent.

Highmark is suing the federal government over losses incurred through the Affordable Care Act. Highmark stated in their lawsuit that they are owed $223 million for losses in 2014, and $500 will be owed for 2015. (Source: Pittsburgh Post-Gazette)

 

Harrisburg-based law firm McNees Wallace & Nurick LLC attorney Michael A. Doctrow is handling the trademark applications for a Triple Crown hopeful racing horse, Nyquist. PinnacleHealth System recently announced that it will open its new Lebanon Valley Advanced Care Center located in Annville in July of this year. At the time of its opening, the 80,000-square-foot building will house Annville Family Medicine, PinnacleHealth Endocrinology, and Select Physical Therapy. Phase I of the United Way of Lebanon County Community Impact transition culminated the week of May 23 with the announcement of a $2.5 million investment, effective July 1, 2016, in 30 community programs. The United Way of Lebanon County is advancing its funding model to better meet the needs in the community and build capacity to tackle the underlying causes of the most serious problems. Over the last twelve months, the United Way board of directors has been refining a community impact implementation plan that will enhance its ability to improve the lives of children, families and the individuals most in need in our community. Phase II of the community impact implementation plan is the development and publication of a thorough, inclusive and comprehensive needs assessment in 2017.

 

The Federal Trade Commission and the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s request for a stay to continue blocking PinnacleHealth System and Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center from merging was granted by the U.S. Third Circuit Court of Appeals. The stay will keep the two organizations from merging until the court rules on an appeal. Lebanon-based DRT Transportation has invested in 48 trailers and anticipates purchasing another 30 in response to increasing customer demand nationwide. The decision followed a first-quarter 2016 sales increase of 25 percent over the same quarter in 2015, according to President Robert Kemp.

 

The Hershey Co.has announced that it will be the first corporate sponsor and tenant of the Pennovation Center, a “technology incubator” at the University of Pennsylvania. The center will feature Hershey’s Advanced Technology & Foresight Lab, focusing on manufacturing, food packaging, production, and more. The center, which will open in August, is a 58,000-square-foot, three-story structure “designed to host entrepreneurs and researchers from both Penn and the private sector. Arthur Funk & Sons Inc. will build Living Hope Church of Harrisburg’s new building in Dauphin County, with the expected completion date of April 2017. The building will be nearly 25,000 square feet, and will cost approximately $5.2 million. It will feature a sanctuary capable of holding 500 people, a stage, classrooms, offices, kitchen, and cafe. At the Community of Lebanon Association’s luncheon held at the Lebanon Country Club on Wednesday, May 25, the CLA’s board chair, Mike Kuhn, stated that 19 applications for the Business Improvement District’s downtown manager position have been accepted, and that the application period is now closed.
