LLV Health & Human Services Day
Lebanon, PA
06/06/2016 12:54 PM

The Chamber's Leadership Lebanon Valley (LLV) program held its Health and Human Services Day on Tuesday, May 10. The goal of this LLV day was that "LLV participants will develop a deeper appreciation for, and understanding of, the basic human needs of at-risk persons in Lebanon County, resources available to them, and the leadership challenges that relate to health and human services."

Other learning objectives for the day included "to understand the economic impact of providing/not providing health and human services," "to explore what it means in leadership to have the ability to be both objective and empathetic," and "to gain an understanding of what services exist and the network of agencies that provide them."

As part of LLV's Health and Human Services Day, the class visited First Aid & Safety Patrol's headquarters for breakfast, and went to the Lebanon Rescue Mission for lunch. The day also featured a panel discussion of representatives of the Sexual Assault Resource & Counseling Center (SARCC), Compeer of Lebanon County, Developmental & Disability Services of Lebanon Valley, Domestic Violence Intervention, HOPES, and Volunteers in Medicine.

The purpose of Leadership Lebanon Valley is to broaden the base of effective future volunteer leadership within the Lebanon Valley community by cultivating the interest, knowledge and skills of potential volunteer leaders in order for them to contribute time and talents effectively in meeting the rapidly changing needs of our community.
