MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (Jan. 31, 2025) –
The UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute in Central Pennsylvania is partnering
with the Peyton Walker Foundation to offer free heart screenings for students
aged 10 to 22 tomorrow, Feb. 1, 2025, at Mountain View Middle School in
Mechanicsburg. This event is held in conjunction with National Youth Heart
Screening Day.
The event will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and
will feature UPMC cardiologists Dr. Chinmay Patel and Dr. Michael Bosak, along
with other healthcare professionals. This initiative aims to make a significant
impact on the lives of young people by preventing sudden cardiac arrest, which
claims the life of a student every hour.
The Peyton Walker Foundation is dedicated to
preventing sudden cardiac arrest in young individuals through resuscitation
education, the donation of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), and free
heart screenings. Parents are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity
to protect their children's health.
The UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute is proud
to collaborate with the Peyton Walker Foundation to raise awareness about heart
disease, the importance of heart screenings, and emergency response.
