Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health Partners with Local High Schools for Career Exploration Program
Who: Penn Medicine Lancaster General
Health will host a career exploration program, A
Day in the Life, for local high school students at Lancaster General
Hospital on April 27th and 28th. The program will provide a hands-on educational day for students as they develop career
plans for their future. This will be the second time LG Health has
hosted the career educational event.
What:
A Day in
the Life is an educational program where students learn about an
occupation by shadowing an experienced professional. LG Health partnered with
Lancaster County local public high schools, as well as Lancaster
Catholic and Lancaster Career and Technology, to invite students who have an
interest in a medical career to join LG Health representatives to learn more
about the health system and to explore possible career options. It is anticipated
that approximately 325 students will rotate through the 2-day program that
features eight hands-on activities representing Nursing, Respiratory Therapy,
Physical Medicine, Pharmacy, Surgical Technology, Cardiology, Radiology, and
the Laboratory Services. Each day includes an opportunity to job shadow in a
student-selected area of choice.
LG
Health representatives as well as selected high school students enrolled in the
program will be available for interviews during the mornings of April 27 and
April 28th between 10-11:30 a.m. Please RSVP by April 26th
to allow planning for a LG Health representative to meet interested media to
escort to the program.
