Join the US Green Building Council Central PA for a tour of our 2017 LEED Project of the Year, Kreider Commons! The project team will share the story of this historic manufacturing building & how they adapted it into green, affordable senior living apartments. After the walking tour, happy hour will be held at Downtown Lounge, 734 Cumberland Street, Lebanon.
Kreider Commons is
an innovative, adaptive reuse project in downtown Lebanon that has achieved
LEED for Homes Platinum certification. The building was adapted from the six
story former A.S. Kreider Shoe Company's warehouse into 50 one and two- bedroom
modern affordable rental apartments for independent seniors. Kreider Commons
achieves exceptional energy performance, especially for a 98-year old building
renovated to historic standards. Green features include: rooftop solar water heating system; high
R-value wall & roof insulation; energy efficient windows & heat pumps; energy
recovery ventilator (ERV); ENERGY STAR appliances, lighting and bath exhaust
fan; low-VOC paints, adhesives and sealants, and low formaldehyde composite
woods.
