LLV Leadership Day Conference (Open to the Public!)

The Leadership Day Workshop Series, designed for emerging and established community leaders, will include lively and informative presentations and ample time for participant questions and discussion. Each participant will have the opportunity to network with and learn from a variety of community leaders.

 

Attendees will pick two workshops to attend in the morning, and two to attend in the afternoon. These workshops are detailed below.

 

AM Workshop Sessions

 

A. Workplace Mental Health: Do More for 1 in 4 - Andy Seebold, MBA, SPHR, Director, Business Services for WellSpan Health. 1 in 4 American adults are living with a diagnosable, treatable mental health condition. How do you know? What do you say? Attend this session to learn how to best support and respond to employees with mental health challenges.

 

B. Goal Setting for Direct Reports - Jason Trout, Vice President, Development and Community Affairs, WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital. What is a fair or realistic goal? How do I influence high performance and coach for success? This interactive and thought-provoking session will help you answer these and other important questions on a topic that is vital for you and your team’s success.

 

C. Building Effective Work Relationships - Marilyn Walker, President & CEO of synergize! Work relationships aren’t that different from outside-of-work relationships. Sometimes they’re easy, and sometimes they’re not! This interactive session will provide practical tips on how to establish quality relationships with the people we work with.

 

PM Workshop Sessions

 

D. Everyday Speaking 101 - William Mulligan, MBA, Senior Director, Marketing, WellSpan Health. This session describes preparation, organization and delivery tips for common presentation scenarios, including meetings, elevator pitches, and public speaking. You’ll learn key strategies that will help you improve your communication right away. 

 

E. Multi-Generational Workforce - Darin Pickles, Director of Operations, A.L. Hanford Center, Lebanon Valley Family YMCA. Typewriters and Twitter are terms well-known to some of your team and foreign to others! This interactive workshop will help you come away with a better understanding of the opportunities and challenges of leading a multi-generational workforce.

 

F. What Makes a Good Non-Profit Board? - Amy Leonard, Esquire, Henry & Beaver LLP; Chairperson, LLV Board of Directors. This session will cover how to get the right mix of passion and people when recruiting board members, and how to create "buy-in" from your board. Other topics include how to keep committees functional and accountable, maintaining appropriate relationships with agency/organization staff, leadership giving and fundraising advice, and how to avoid board pitfalls.

The Lebanon Valley Chamber of Commerce's Women in Business Committee is once again pleased to present its annual Scholarship Luncheon! Highlights of the luncheon include the announcement of the 2016 Non-Traditional Student Scholarship winner(s).

Catering will be provided by Becky Briody of Chef on the Go. Tracey Jones, author and president of Tremendous Life Books, will be the featured speaker. Tracey will present on "Pioneers of Personal Progress: The Tremendous Value of Lifelong Learning." Tracey will celebrate the innovative spirit of adult learners and encourage them to stay disciplined.

Tracey Jones, born in Mechanicsburg, PA, is the president of Tremendous Life Books. She stepped into the role of president in 2009 to carry on the legacy of her father, Charlie “Tremendous” Jones, who started the business in the hopes of “changing the world one book at a time.” After attending the New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell, NM, Tracey entered the Air Force as an Aircraft Maintenance Officer. Her military career has taken her overseas in the first Gulf War, to Bitburg Air Base in Germany, and to RAF Lakenheath in the UK.

LVYP "Last Thursday" Mixer
Members of the Lebanon Valley Young Professionals and their guests are invited to a "Last Thursday" Mixer event at the Mt. Gretna Hideaway! There will be food, beverages, door prizes and networking fun! Plus, you can  meet the LVYP leadership!

During the fun event, attendees will have the opportunity to meet and network with other area young professionals from throughout the Lebanon Valley and neighboring communities. Each attendee will also have the chance to introduce themselves and their business or organization to the other young professionals in attendance.

The LVYP is an initiative by the Lebanon Valley Chamber of Commerce aimed at supporting and developing the leadership potential of young professionals throughout the Lebanon Valley. The program is also intended to provide these young, emerging leaders with expanded opportunities for involvement in and impact on the community. The LVYP is open to anyone, ages 21 to 40, who lives or works in the Lebanon Valley.

The luncheon, which annually attracts a large audience of business leaders from throughout the Valley, will feature the presentation of the 2016 Small Business Person of the Year Award to Chris Gebhard of Hoaster Gebhard and the 2016 Leon Hoover Entrepreneurial Spirit Award to David Stein of Hidden Still Spirits.
