The Leadership Day Workshop Series, designed for emerging and established community leaders, will include lively and informative presentations and ample time for participant questions and discussion. Each participant will have the opportunity to network with and learn from a variety of community leaders.
Attendees will pick two workshops to attend in the morning, and two to attend in the afternoon. These workshops are detailed below.
AM Workshop Sessions
A. Workplace Mental Health: Do More for 1 in 4 - Andy Seebold, MBA, SPHR, Director, Business Services for WellSpan Health. 1 in 4 American adults are living with a diagnosable, treatable mental health condition. How do you know? What do you say? Attend this session to learn how to best support and respond to employees with mental health challenges.
B. Goal Setting for Direct Reports - Jason Trout, Vice President, Development and Community Affairs, WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital. What is a fair or realistic goal? How do I influence high performance and coach for success? This interactive and thought-provoking session will help you answer these and other important questions on a topic that is vital for you and your team’s success.
C. Building Effective Work Relationships - Marilyn Walker, President & CEO of synergize! Work relationships aren’t that different from outside-of-work relationships. Sometimes they’re easy, and sometimes they’re not! This interactive session will provide practical tips on how to establish quality relationships with the people we work with.
PM Workshop Sessions
D. Everyday Speaking 101 - William Mulligan, MBA, Senior Director, Marketing, WellSpan Health. This session describes preparation, organization and delivery tips for common presentation scenarios, including meetings, elevator pitches, and public speaking. You’ll learn key strategies that will help you improve your communication right away.
E. Multi-Generational Workforce - Darin Pickles, Director of Operations, A.L. Hanford Center, Lebanon Valley Family YMCA. Typewriters and Twitter are terms well-known to some of your team and foreign to others! This interactive workshop will help you come away with a better understanding of the opportunities and challenges of leading a multi-generational workforce.
F. What Makes a Good Non-Profit Board? - Amy Leonard, Esquire, Henry & Beaver LLP; Chairperson, LLV Board of Directors. This session will cover how to get the right mix of passion and people when recruiting board members, and how to create "buy-in" from your board. Other topics include how to keep committees functional and accountable, maintaining appropriate relationships with agency/organization staff, leadership giving and fundraising advice, and how to avoid board pitfalls.
