Barley Snyder is
pleased to announce that attorney Amanda
Jabour Kowalski has
been elected President of the Lancaster Law Foundation (LLF).
The LLF is the
charitable arm of the Lancaster Bar Association, a professional organization consisting
of almost 800 judges, attorneys, and legal professionals in Lancaster County.
The LLF is dedicated to promoting equal access to justice within Lancaster
County by funding public interest law projects, delivering pro bono service,
and educating the public on civic and legal issues. Kowalski has been actively
involved with the LLF for several years, being elected to the board of directors in 2021 and most recently serving as its Vice President.
“It is an honor to have been selected by my peers to serve as President of the Lancaster Law Foundation’s board of directors,” said Kowalski. “I look forward to using this opportunity to further the foundation’s mission of providing vital resources to promote equal access to justice within our community.”
Through its grant
programs, community partnerships, and advocacy efforts, the LLF works to expand
access to legal services and education for underserved populations. A key
component of this work, the Community Grants Program, raises funds for local nonprofit organizations providing critical legal services. The 2024 grant recipients include Bench Mark, CASA of Lancaster and Lebanon Counties, Lancaster Bar Association, Lititz Choses Love, MidPenn Legal Services, YWCA Lancaster and Zion Community Services. In addition, the LLF organizes outreach programs within the community, including “Operation Santa” for residents of the Transitional Living Center and the “Law Suits” clothing donation program.
With more than
a decade of legal experience, Kowalski concentrates her practice on financial institution regulation, securities, general corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, and international trade matters. Prior
to joining Barley Snyder, the Lancaster native practiced at a Washington, D.C.-based
law firm where she advised banks and non-bank financial institutions on a wide
range of regulatory, transactional and compliance issues.
