Families were torn apart as children were separated from their parents and wives from their husbands. When the trains arrived people were loaded like cattle and transported to Auschwitz where they were murdered in gas chambers. Terezin was liberated May 1945, only a little over one-hundred children survived. After the liberation thousands of pictures, poems and stories created by the children of Terezin were found hidden under the floor boards in the barracks.
