Lebanon, PA
06/06/2016 01:20 PM
Known as the event where the Lebanon Valley business community says thank you to our veterans, active military members, and Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, the Lebanon Valley Chamber of Commerce’s 2016 Military Appreciation Breakfast took place Tuesday, May 24, at the Lebanon Country Club. The highlight of the event included the presentation of the Chamber’s 2016 General Frank Smoker Beyond the Call Award to Dr. Glen Mesaros of Melnick Moffitt and Mesaros ENT Associates in Lebanon. Luthercare was the presenting sponsor for the breakfast. Valspar was a patron sponsor and Compeer of Lebanon County and PA State Representative Russ Diamond were supporting sponsors.

The General Frank Smoker Beyond the Call Award is given annually to a Chamber member for their exceptional support of members of the armed services and their families. This year’s award recipient, Dr. Mesaros, was nominated by Teresa Penna of the Lebanon Country Club. In 2015, Mesaros founded the Swing for the Troops Golf Tournament to raise funds for the Wounded Warrior Project and PA Wounded Warriors Inc. In its first year, the golf tournament raised $15,000 to help soldiers and their families. This year’s Swing for the Troops Golf Tournament was held on Monday, May 16, at the Country Club. More information regarding the tournament is available at www.swingforthetroops.com.

In her nomination letter, Penna writes, “Serving in the Army himself, Dr. Mesaros is committed and passionate about aiding, helping, and supporting fellow soldiers and their families. He is very devoted to his family and his community. His efforts are unparalleled and because of his dedication, hard work, and enthusiasm for helping other soldiers and their families, Dr. Mesaros’ Swing for the Troops Tournament is successful in giving back to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in fighting for our country and for our freedoms.”
