Gift baskets, rides, food and a giant brain will be on hand for visitors to the 70th annual WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary Street Fair, to be held in June in Lebanon.
The fair will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 1, and from 9 a.m. to 9
p.m. Saturday, June 2, on South Eighth Street, between Oak and Orange streets.
It raises money to benefit WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital and its programs.
The 70th annual celebration will kick off Friday with a Fish Fry and Pasta Dinner. The Elvis Tribute Band will perform at the bandstand from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The event will feature booths including those featuring theme gift baskets, books, flowers/plants and crafts.
The fair also will feature the MEGA Brain, an inflatable, walk-through
brain exhibit. The exhibit, which is 18 feet long. 14 feet wide and 12 feet
high, allows visitors to learn about normal brain function, brain disease,
brain trauma and some of the latest treatments for brain issues. The brain will be on display June 2. The MEGA brain is sponsored by the Paul F. Dixon Stroke Center at WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital, with funding from the Francis J. Dixon Foundation.
The gift baskets, which are raffled off, will be on display from May 26 to
31 in the main lobby of the hospital, at Fourth and Walnut streets. They also
will be on display at the fair Friday afternoon, June 1.
This year’s goal is to raise $40,000 to complete the auxiliary’s $150,000 pledge to support the WellSpan Sechler Family Cancer Center. The center offers treatments including chemotherapy, infusion therapy and radiation as well as many support services to area residents. Since its first fair in 1949, the auxiliary has contributed more than $2.7 million to the hospital for equipment and special projects to enhance the care and comfort of local patients and their families.
