Annual Breakfast Kicks Off Centennial Celebration

The Lebanon Valley Chamber of Commerce’s 2015 Annual Breakfast was held Thursday, Dec. 10, at StoneRidge Retirement Living in Myerstown. Metro Bank was the presenting sponsor for this event, and Kreamer Funeral Home and CLEAResult were Silver Sponsors. Highlights of the event included the presentation of numerous awards. The breakfast also kicked off the Chamber’s 2016 100th anniversary celebration.

 

The Ambassador of the Year Award, which is presented each year to a member of the Chamber’s Ambassadors Committee for their exceptional efforts in representing and promoting the Chamber and its objectives, was presented to Jack Cantwell of SkyLimit Marketing in Lebanon.

 

The ATHENA Award, which recognizes men and women of achievement in the community who have distinguished themselves through their professional accomplishments and community service and who have assisted women in advancing their leadership skills and reaching their full potential, was awarded to Jenny Murphy-Shifflet of the Sexual Assault Resource & Counseling Center (SARCC).

 

This year’s Bob Harris Award was presented to Steve Goodhue of Edward Jones in Myerstown, a financial advisor. The Bob Harris Award recognizes a member business that has been an exemplary supporter of the Chamber’s mission and efforts over the previous year.

 

Two Community Builder Awards were presented at this year’s Annual Breakfast. This award recognizes the outstanding volunteer efforts of individuals in the Lebanon Valley who have helped to enhance the quality of life in the community. The 2015 recipients of this award were Guadalupe Barba of Juntos de Lebanon and Frank Dixon of the Francis J. Dixon Foundation in Lebanon.

 

The Nonprofit of the Year Award was also presented at the Annual Breakfast. The 2015 Nonprofit of the Year was recognized for its 2013-2015 impact upon the Lebanon Valley, significant accomplishments, community collaborations and responsiveness to the community’s needs. The 2015 recipient was OnFire Youth Ministry.

 

Recognition of outgoing officers, directors, committee chairs, and member anniversaries were likewise included in the program. To kick off the centennial, Karen Groh, chair of the Centennial Committee, gave attendees a preview of special events which are being held in 2016 to celebrate the Chamber’s 100th anniversary. All of the event attendees also sang “Happy Birthday” to the Chamber before setting off confetti poppers. Thank you to everyone who came out for the Chamber’s Annual Breakfast!
